Updated: May 21, 2021

During this current pandemic situation, the working environment and societal benefits have become apparent. Most adults today, HOME has become their regular coworking space, with the living room or kitchen table.

With family by your side, do you still have the balance?

Working from home for parents are faced with many different set of challenge especially with children around. Creating a work life balance is important. Before you get overwhelmed, here are some tips creating balance.

1. Reduce Distraction

Usually working from home, people tend to work too little or too much, and avoiding distractions. It's not always the other people in our lives who may distract us; sometimes distractions come in the form of housework, TV, or social media. It is important to establish clear boundaries. Set a to-do-list and keep to the regular working hours.

2. Balance of Mind

Taking time to rest both mentally and physically. Keep a constant balance between the mental and the physical aspect.

Set aside the time for you to relax and clear your brain. Research have proven that exercising helps with mental well being. Encourage people in your house to stretch, strengthen or exercise in whatever feels good for them.

Plan your vacation & days off in advance to have something to look forward to.

3. Scheduling

Keep yourself up to date on all the upcoming events. Have a schedule to follow daily. Prioritise building a routine that keeps time for you as an important goal. Plan for how you will address the myriad of tasks coming your way, otherwise you might find yourself working around the clock because home life required you more.

4. Communication

When everyone is working from home, you are cutting off a portion of social interaction that helps individual lessen stress and creating presence. Keep a constant update with your colleagues and bosses to explain on your commitment to helping company navigate.

We understand that this is not always easy to do but the smallest changes can make the world of difference. Spending time with your children can help your family relationships become stronger and develop tighter bonds.

Let us embrace and work towards a society still including coworking space.
